What should my mom get for my Grandma?

We're going to my Grandma's house in a couple weeks, and my mom realized that she's forgotten to buy her birthday present. It's her mother-in-law, and she's old, like 80. She's been sick for the past few weeks and in and out of the hospital. She already has plenty of nightgowns, spa sets, foot massagers, and cookbooks. Not to mention clothes, purses, and jewelry. She doesn't have any distinct hobbies but is somewhat redneck-inclined (as in singing fish and garage sales). We don't have enough time to put together anything meaningful like scrapbooks. Any ideas?

I've got elderly relatives -- here are some that I've scored with:

Does she have a pet? Then it's easy. More toys, bed, water fountain, brushes, scratchers, bowls, treats, and so forth.

A telephone with GIANT numbers and/or adjustable volume that she can crank to deafening levels.

A CD (and if necessary a CD player) of music from the 40s or 50s that she probably once owned on vinyl but did not later replace with a CD version.

A phonograph. My parents had a vast collection of vinyl, but had long since discarded their record player. I bought 'em a new one (that also had a CD player built in).

A wall clock with giant numbers.

An easy-to-set alarm clock with giant numbers and an alarm loud enough to wake the dead.

Lottery tickets (scratchers) and a lucky penny.

My parents loved the "For Better or Worse" comic strip. I bought some of the books for them. Your grandma also might like some of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books.

get her a nice basket of hand soaps, lotions, etc. from BATH & BODY WORKS.

What about a family photo? My mother loves pictures. Also Mom likes to work the word search puzzles. I have got her several with some pens, add a few other things she likes, maybe perfume and lotions. Sometimes simple is better.

get her a gift card from her favorite store, and then take her there.that way she can pick out what she wants
